Canada, Derek has held senior digital roles with Postmedia and Edelman and taught emerging technology and the business of media at Centennial College. As Learngistics’ lead AI trainer, Derek helps professionals understand and apply generative AI in practical, responsible ways—using it to improve productivity, decision-making and business performance while keeping human judgement at the centre. His approach to AI emphasizes responsible, human-centric adoption rather than technology for technology’s sake.

Description of Session:

You've heard it from every direction: AI is going to change the travel business. What you haven't heard, clearly and without the hype, is where it actually helps you, where it doesn't, and how to tell the difference. This session is built for advisors at every stage, whether you use AI every day or haven't touched it yet. We start with an honest question most sessions skip: should travel advisors really be worried about AI?

From there we get practical. We look at where AI can help you reduce the time it takes to serve each client, from understanding what they want and researching options to preparing recommendations and communicating with them. Because creating more leads doesn’t help much if you don’t have the capacity to serve them. Once you create that capacity, AI can also help you retain more clients, increase what they book with you, and ultimately grow your business.

You'll leave with a simple framework for spotting the right AI opportunities in your own business. Not a list of tools to chase, but a way to decide where AI saves you time and where your judgment still needs to lead. And you'll leave with one thing you can try the next day.

The goal isn't to turn you into an AI expert. It's to make you a faster, sharper, more valuable advisor, using AI only where it earns its place
