Our People
Out of Many, One People
The true beauty of Jamaica is in its people. Our country is a melting pot of rich cultures, embodied by our national motto, “Out of Many, One People”. Our cultural diversity is a blend of Taíno, African, Indian, Spanish, Chinese, German, Portuguese, Syrian, Lebanese, English, Irish, French, and Welsh influences that you will see in our food, place names, architecture, music, dance, folklore, and language. As proud Jamaican people, we’re eager to immerse you in our ways—to show you how to explore our country, experience our culture, and gain a deeper appreciation for all that we have to offer. So let us introduce ourselves...
We're creative
We have a rich and vibrant history filled with struggle and the fight for equity, justice, emancipation and independence. The saying we likkle but we tallawah (meaning "we may be small, but we are mighty") has long been an unofficial motto that speaks to our nation's resilient spirit.
