Your Itinerary for a Romantic Couples' Getaway

Jamaica is truly for lovers. This island is the perfect place to spark romance. The possibilities for creating spectacular memories are endless. Nick and Madison of @TheCapturingCouple share their itinerary for the most memorable trip for you and your sweetheart.

Day 1 | Let the Love Inn

Jamaica is well-connected to key international hubs. Being based in Florida, Nick and Madison took a quick trip from Miami to Montego Bay.The drive to Ocho Rios is scenic as the road unfurls along Jamaica's north coast, tracing the edge of the Caribbean Sea. Pass fishing boats bobbing in quiet coves and fruits stands piled high with tropical fruits.

Just steps from the Ocho Rios town centre is the historic and secluded Jamaica Inn, a family-run boutique hotel known for its elegant decor and celebrated heritage. Chosen as a honeymoon destination by Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller, Jamaica Inn has been welcoming honoured guests for over 65 years. Settle in to your accommodations, whether you choose a cottage or suite, you'll enjoy beautiful views of the well-kept garden and Caribbean Sea.

Day 2 | Find your flow

Start the day with a delicious in-suite breakfast. Sip Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee in bed and enjoy the freshest fruits to fuel you up for a morning of adventure. Take on the thrills with Chukka Caribbean Adventures. With multiple locations in and around Ocho Rios, you can try ziplining, ATV safaris, horseback rides, river tubing and more. Further inland, along the White River, Blue Hole (Island Gully Falls) is a popular waterfall experience famed for mineral pools of electric blue water.

All that adventure works up an appetite. Time for lunch at Miss T's Kitchen, a spot loved by visitors to the island and Jamaicans. This is the place for traditional Jamaican dishes like Jerk Chicken, Oxtail, Escoveitch Fish, and Rice and Peas. The colourful and eclectic decor makes the space feel like an oasis right in the town centre.

Day 3 | Chasing Waterfalls and Hidden Wonders

The day's activities invite you deeper into the island's natural wonders, beginning with the rushing waters and cascading beauty of the world famous Dunn's River Falls and Park. One of the world's only travertine waterfalls that leads to the sea, Dunn's River Falls is one of Jamaica's most iconic experiences. Climb the falls hand in hand and be sure to stop for a photo - you'll never want to forget this moment.

Next, the pace softens at the Martha Brae River as you drift along on a tranquil river raft, gliding beneath bamboo canopies and past lush scenery. River rafting is an iconically Jamaican experience and one of the most romantic.

Midday is the perfect time to pause for one of Jamaica's most beloved culinary traditions - authentic jerk. Follow the smoky aroma to a jerk centre or open-air grill where chicken, pork, and other delights are seasoned with a fiery blend of spices and herbs, then slow-cooked over pimento wood. The result is tender and flavourful food with the perfect balance of heat and smokiness. Pair it with festival, bammy, or roasted breadfruit and a cold Jamaican beer, and lunch becomes more than a meal - it's a cultural experience, shared casually under the shade of trees and amid the easy rhythm of the island around you.

Day 4 | A Sweet Send Off

As you wind down your romantic escape, journey to the cool hills for a visit to Sun Valley Plantation, a family-run farm full of tropical fruit, fresh herbs, and natural Jamaican charm. Your tour is led by the Binn's family matriach, Lorna. Warm and knowledgeable, she'll lead you along the paths of her beautifully tended gardens stopping along the way to sample rare and unique fruits and spices. Don't leave before enjoying fresh coconut water, straight from the fruit. After you've 'washed off yuh heart' with the refreshing drink, savour the sweet jelly meat inside.

Say a bittersweet goodbye and head west for Montego Bay. There's so much to see and do in the second city. You'll find luxurious resorts, family-run boutique hotels, and major attractions like Doctor's Cave Beach and the spooky Rose Hall Great House. Stop in at Main Street Rose Hall for some shopping. The promenade-style shopping village is lined with souvenir shops, duty-free and jewelery outlets, as well as unique murals created by local artists. Check out The Collective 876, a Jamaican designer marketplace showcasing a beautifully curated array of products ranging from fashion to lifestyle to decor. Browse a small gallery with contemporary works by Jamaican fine artists. Pull up a chair at The Rum Yard and sip a delicious cocktail as you enjoy views of the water wheel.
